Centre 4 Cloud
The Centre4Cloud is a national knowledge centre aiming at the open innovation and development of knowledge on Cloud Computing. The knowledge centre is an initiative from the Kennispark Twente, Caase.com, and the University of Twente.
Cloud computing refers to the provision of computational resources on demand via a computer network, much like electricity is provided via the electricity network. In the future, most organizations will no longer own their own private computing infrastructure, just as today only very few organizations own their own electricity generators. Cloud Computing impacts the information technology in organizations, and is most of all a business opportunity. Cloud Computing can significantly reduce the cost of organisations, while increasing their productivity. More importantly, a breakthrough of Cloud Computing will lead to a completely new palet of IT services, especially for SMEs. The Centre4Cloud aims at developing knowledge on Cloud Computing via an 'open innovation' model, and will contribute to developing innovative, knowledge-intensive activities in the Netherlands.
