Description of research

 

Churches, political parties and similar non-profit communities could benefit from Social Media to improve the way they work with their members and volunteers. However, the various ways to use Social Media and their effects on member participation are not well understood.

RQ1: How can non-profit organizations - with community structures – such as churches and political parties increase member participation by implementing Social Media?

RQ2: What are the design principles for optimal implementation of Social Media, as a participation instrument, at non-profit organizations with traditional communities?

A measurement model is developed as a means to discover the effects of Social Media Participation on Non-profit community participation. Design principles are derived from mixed-method case studies based on the measurement model.
