Information Retrieval for Children
Description of research
My research aims to create novel interfaces in support of children’s information seeking. Compared to adults, children have different information needs. For example, they are very creative, open-minded, and sensitive to emotions. Furthermore, they require intuitive ways to interact with an information system; e.g., they express their information need differently and are more prone to make (typographical) errors. Therefore, this research combines the state-of-the-art from Information Retrieval (IR) research and Human Computer Interaction (HCI), and uses findings from psychology to create an information system custom-made for children.
