Full-Duplex Radios for Local Access (DUPLO)

Description of research

Within the ICD group, I perform research for the European project "Full-Duplex Radios for Local Access" (DUPLO). This project aims at developing new technology and system solutions for future generations of mobile data networks by introducing a new full-duplex radio transmission paradigm: the same carrier frequency is used for transmission and reception at the same time. The approach holds the potential to significantly increase the capacity, and will focus on energy efficient solutions which also enable a more flexible use of the spectrum. Self-interference cancelling (SIC) mechanisms will be implemented on various levels: antenna, RF, baseband and digital. My task is to investigate SIC mechanisms that can be applied in an integrated radio front end.
