3D Face Reconstruction from Multiple Uncalibrated Images

Description of research

In the PV3D project research will be done to the use of 3D techniques for the verification of the faces of people. Usually only one screenshot of a video is used for face verification, but in the PV3D project we will use as many frames of the video as possible. Each frame containing information of the face is important. In the project we will investigate the possibility to obtain a 3D face model from a video using known and new technology. This face model can be used for a comparison with another face model, which is for example acquired with a 3D laser scan at the police station after the arrest of a suspect. Besides the development of these techniques and the study on the feasibility of these techniques, another aspect is the probative value of the obtained 3D face model.
