Forensic Face Recognition

Description of research

Face recognition is one of the most important task forensic examiners carry out manually during their investigation when there is a video or image available from crime scene. Forensic examiners perform manual examination of facial images or videos for a match with huge database of mugshots. The purpose of this research is to develop automated system aimed at facial recognition which will not only improve the efficiency of forensic work performed by various law enforcement agencies but will also standardize the comparison process. This research also focuses on calibration of output from existing biometric face recognition system so that they are usable in forensic applications.
