At university you are expected to act independently and to look after your own affairs. Especially at the start of a new programme, there are many things that may not be self-evident. It could take some time before you find your way and on occasion you may need some assistance. Also, there could be matters in the course of your education you may want to discuss with somebody, such as the choice of a minor, additional subjects you want to attend, etc. In such situations you can also contact the student adviser. The student adviser for the CE bachelor's programme is Judith Roos or Gijs Medendorp.
First-year students at CE are assigned a mentor. Your mentor is your first point of contact for questions/problems. During the first year, you will have a number of progress interviews with your mentor. After the first year, study guidance will be provided by the student adviser.
Contact
You can make an appointment for a meeting with the study adviser via https://et.planner.utwente.nl/#/en. These meetings generally take roughly 30 minutes. Sometimes it might turn out to be useful to meet more often, in that case a follow-up appointment is made after the meeting. You can also send (short) questions to the student adviser by email.
Questions
You can contact the student adviser with questions in connection with your study, studying or private matters which affect your study, for example:
- Did I pick the right programme?
- Which subjects should I select for this quarter?
- I think the programme is fairly easy. Are there other things I can do in addition to the programme?
- I never had any problems during my pre-university education. How can it be that I fail so many tests, now?
- I am a top athlete; what are the schemes and facilities that I can use?
- I have problems with my studies due to dyslexia.
As a first step, it is usually good to have an interview with your student adviserent necessary, the student adviser will refer you to persons or institutes inside or outside the university.
