Diederik Rothengatter

Due to the health care organizations’ ‘job shop’ characteristics, trying to achieve optimal schedules for both physicians and patients is hard (much like: nearly impossible). In organizational processes with the same characteristics (e.g. freight shipping, truck loading), the application of dynamic last minute scheduling using agent technology has proven to be successful. In his research, Diederik Rothengatter applies agent technology in health care organizations, trying to acquire the promising perspectives from the other fields. This research involves taking a better look at current scheduling performances in health care organizations, acceptance factors to artificial intelligence and decision support systems by physicians, and system integration issues.
