MSc student wins national Innovations in Healthcare thesis award (March 2009)
Jesse van Elteren wins national thesis award “Innovations in healthcare”

After two of our MSc students, Jesse van Elteren and Elske Florijn, were nominated for the best 10 theses for the thesis award 2009 of Innovations in Healthcare (translation of Innovaties in de Zorg), today, Jesse van Elteren proudly received the first price.
All students of Dutch universities and colleges who wrote a thesis about an innovation in healthcare were contestants for the First price of € 2500,-.
Jesse’s thesis addresses the cost-effectiveness analysis of individualized follow-up of breast cancer, through mathematical modeling and analysis. This research was performed in collaboration with the Centre for Mammacare of Medisch Spectrum Twente in Enschede, and the Comprehensive Cancer Centre (IKNO).
We are very proud of Jesse, who has established a new milestone for the operations research in healthcare research at UT. We thank dr. Joost Klaase (MST) and dr. Sabine Siesling (IKNO) for the initiation of and valuable contribution to this research.
The presentation of prizes took place during a National HRM-conference in Utrecht.
