Subscription exams + 3rd attempt
Registration exams
· |
When you due to force majeur did not register in time for exams of the programmes CiT/CEM/CME via Osiris (or Blackboard; for some partial exams), and you still want to participate, you have to send a request by email as soon as possible to the student adviser Annet de Kiewit (j.g.dekiewit@utwente.nl). In this request you mention course(s) + course code(s) + date/time exam, your name and student number and the reason for not subscribing in time. The student adviser will handle these requests under authority of the examination board. |
· |
You can unsubscribe via the same application as you subscribed until one day before the exam. When you don’t unsubscribe in time you will receive as grade NV (no show). This will be counted as an exam attempt and your final result will be/stay NVD (not sufficient). |
3rd attempt
As of the second quartile (1 B) 2011-2012 all students who register for a third (or higher) attempt in Osiris will receive as message that the maximum number of attempts has been reached. Your registration will be blocked until you finished the approval procedure. The approval procedure is handled by the student adviser Annet de Kiewit (j.g.dekiewit@utwente.nl) on behalf of examination board.
The formal rules are described in the student charter:
R5b Plan of action
R5b.1
The student has to ask permission from the Examination Board for each exam attempt
of an unit of study in case he/she did not finish the first two attempts with sufficient
result (see OER-CEM2011 article 8.3)
R5b.2
The Examination Board delegates his power to handle these requests to the student
advisor.
R5b.3
To get permission the student will deliver, if necessary after consultation with the
student advisor and/or the examiner, a plan of action which contains at least the
following:
a An evaluation of prior attempts both in terms of hours spent as well as in terms of
result
b A detailed description of the preparation of the next attempt
R5b.4
When a student will a third or further exam attempt for the same unit of study without
permission of the Examination Board, the Examination Board has the right to strike the
result even if this result has already been registered.
R5b.5
In special cases, in the judgement of the student advisor, the decision can be made,
that a student doesn’t need to make a plan of action to get permission to take part of
the exam.
What do you have to do?
· |
Send an email to the student adviser Annet de Kiewit indicating that your registration is blocked. Do so in time (so as soon as registration has been opened). Mention course(s) + course code(s) + date/time exam, your name and student number. Do so before the start of the registration period. |
· |
Send your Plan of Action if there is no reason for an exception to this rule (R5b.5). You can use the example on this site. Enter also your study plan in Osiris. |
· |
If you doubt whether you have to make a Plan of Action, do indicate so in your mail. |
· |
After you have been given permission, the exam office (‘’tentamenbureau’’) will subscribe you for the exam. This will be done not earlier than the start of the registration period. |
