The University of Twente is the only university in the Netherlands with a true campus. A campus is a large landholding where all the educational buildings, facilities and laboratories are located, and it's also where all teaching and research takes place. Students can live on campus, do their groceries, participate in sports, have a meal or go out for the evening. A campus gives a university a completely unique atmosphere, and it's what makes the University of Twente so special. Approximately 2,000 students live on campus and there are usually around 8,500 students circulating around the campus each day. |

In the summer, the campus often resembles a holiday park with all the student houses, playing fields, stores and with students sitting in the sun and working on their laptops. |
