Project Education

“The great thing about studying in Twente is the emphasis on projects, nearly always in teams. Within two months, you’re making your own weather station with a group of four students. The biggest project comes at the end of the first year; the final-P project. The project lasts almost a month and you have to think up and carry out the assignment yourself. Together with three other students, I tried to build an RFID card reader. RFID cards are like public transport chip cards, and can be read by a kind of wireless radio transmitter. Unfortunately, we didn’t manage to get the system working, but we learned a great deal from trying. Not only in terms of electrical engineering, but also about planning such a big project and working as a team. So this programme isn’t just about reading and revising; a lot of it is hands-on work!”
