Year 1: Orientation & Foundation

This first year is the foundation of your programme with all students following the same curriculum, except for the Personal Pursuit. The picture below displays the first semester of Year 1, which includes introduction into both social sciences and engineering. Throughout classes, lectures and workshops the interaction between social science and engineering will be an important factor. The knowledge obtained will be combined when doing your project work.

The first semester also includes a Freshman Project, explaining the main characteristics of Project Led Education and teaching how to work under time pressure, how to define what information is required, how to construct an effective and coherent argument, and how to defend the collective result. The Personal Pursuit is part of the curriculum from day one, enabling students to explore and deepen their knowledge in an area of personal interest.

Year 1 courses include Newtonian Mechanics (including Calculus and Linear Alegebra), Energy Engineering (including Complex & Multidimensional Calculus), Behavioural Science and Philisophy, Organizational Change (introduction in Business- and Public Administration).
