5 steps for registration

Step 1: Preparing documents

Before you apply for a bachelor programme at the University of Twente, it is recommended to check whether you meet the following general criteria (can be different for some bachelor programmes, for example ATLAS and CREATE)

The academic year starts 1 September. Are you applying before the application deadlines?

·

Did you provide us with a School Leaving Certificate equivalent to the Dutch vwo-diploma dated

before 1 September ?

·

Have you checked our information about tuition fees, scholarships and cost of living?

·

Do you meet the Language requirements ?

·

Have you send certified copies of the following documents:

o

School Leaving Certificate and grade list

o

Translation of the School Leaving Certificate in Dutch, English or German (if applicable)

o

IELTS, TOEFL or Cambridge certificate (if applicable)

o

NT2-II or CNaVT certificate (if applicable)

o

Birth Certificate, Passport or International ID-card

Step 2: Online application

Create an account and apply for a bachelor programme:

If you meet the criteria you can fill out the online application via www.utwente.studielink.nl During this online application you have to create an account. After filling out all your details, you will receive an email from Studielink to confirm your account. In this email your Student Number is given to you. This Student Number is very important, therefore we ask you to mention this number in all communication with the University of Twente. Please bear in mind that during the summer months activation of your account in Studielink might take up to 72 hours.

*All correspondence will go through Studielink or your private email. Please make sure to check your account and mailbox regularly.

Bachelor Entrance Acceptance Form

After you have been (provisionally) admitted to one of the bachelor programmes you will receive an email from the Admission Office with included the admission letter and the Bachelor Entrance Acceptance Form (BEAF). By filling out and returning this form (mandatory) you confirm that you intend to study at the University of Twente. As soon as the Admission Office has received the BEAF, all the registration procedures will start.

Certified* copies of your documents

For the enrollment at the University of Twente the Admission Office needs to have certified copies of your School Leaving Certificate/Diploma (Please note: the graduation date on the document needs to be before September 1), grade lists and, if applicable, a translation and the results of an English or Dutch Language certificate. You need to send these documents to the Admission Office by regular post to the following address:

Step 3: Visa & Housing

VISA and / residence permit application

Admitted UT students are assisted with arranging visa formalities by International Office. Students cannot apply for a visa themselves; all international Bachelor students requiring visa or residence permit will be contacted by International Office and assisted with all visa procedures.

Step 4: Preparation

HEALTH & LIABILITY INSURANCE

All international students staying in the Netherlands are required by Dutch law to have health- and liability insurance. International Office can help you arrange a complete insurance package covering most health and liability costs during the introduction day for international students. PREPARING FOR STUDY AT THE UT

Step 5: Arrival and Final Registration

ARRIVAL AND KICK-IN INTRODUCTION PERIOD

You must arrive at the University of Twente in time for the start of your courses or project.

The UT organizes an introduction period for new (international) students before the start of every Fall and Spring semester called Kick-In. During these days you will meet your fellow students and get to know Enschede and the UT campus. The UT will also help you arrange formalities like formal university registration and first steps towards registration at the municipality of Enschede. You will be invited to participate in the introduction days for international students by email. For more information please visit the Kick-In website.

If you have not provided certified copies of your Bachelor Degree Certificate, final transcript, translation and English Certificate yet, please make sure you hand them in at the formality market.

Please note that your attendance to the introduction days is mandatory. Not attending the introduction days will delay the completion of formalities needed to properly start your studies.

 

FORMALITIES UPON ARRIVAL

Students attending the introduction days for international students will be guided through all necessary formalities. If you did not participate in the introduction days you will have to arrange all formalities by yourself upon arrival. To make sure you complete all necessary formalities, please visit International Office to receive a checklist. This includes (but is not limited to):

Did you already upload your picture in Osiris student for your student card?

Register at the municipality of Enschede/Hengelo

·

Arrange your residence permit (if applicable)
